On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I welcome you to the Archbishop of York’s CE Junior School.
We are a welcoming, inclusive family school with a strong Christian ethos, a sense of community and a commitment to excellence for all children in our care. We aim to ensure that each one of our children feels safe, secure and confident. We endeavour to inspire, enthuse and engage each child in all their learning experiences. We do this by nurturing each child’s uniqueness, responding to their individual needs and giving them as many opportunities as possible to thrive. We want each child to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the world.
We believe AYJS is a place …
where all are respected and empowered.
which promotes creativity, independence, responsibility, ambitious achievement and being the best you can be.
which nurtures a positive mindset and a healthy lifestyle
which grows leaders
where Christian values are right at the heart of everything
On 1 November 2018 we became an Academy and part of the South York Multi Academy Trust (SYMAT). This exciting development has harnessed the talent, skill, and commitment of those working in these schools to create a strong partnership serving our local communities. This unique Trust stems from over twenty years of collaborative working.
I hope that through this website, you get a taste of what we offer and how we work. Whether you are a parent or carer, a pupil or a friend of the school, I hope you enjoy finding out about the Archbishop of York’s CE Junior School. If you have not had the opportunity to visit us, we would be delighted to meet you in person so that you can see AYJS for yourself.
We look forward to meeting you!
Mrs Kerry Davies, Executive Headteacher
Jesus Christ said 'Let the children come to me and do not hinder them for to such as these belongs the Kingdom of God'.
"At the Archbishop of York's Junior School, I am delighted to see that every child is valued and enabled to flourish. I am always deeply impressed by the talent and maturity shown by the pupils at the school and the way that they look after one another. The staff ensure that there is a huge range of opportunities which the children grab with both hands. Truly this is a fantabulous school! " ~ Dr John Sentamu, Former Archbishop of York
