SIAMS Reports

Dear Parents,

As a Church of England school we are subject to a Church Schools Inspection and an Ofsted Inspection in the Government’s framework for school inspections. Today I am delighted to attach the report from the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). This inspection took place on the 8th November and was undertaken on behalf of the York Diocesan Board of Education and has judged Archbishop of York’s Church of England Junior School to be an Outstanding Church school.

The SIAMS inspection uses a set of criteria to look for evidence of its distinctiveness as a Church school and it was focused on how well we promote spiritual development, how we care for and nurture our children’s Christian values and the quality of our Collective Worship.

The report gives you a picture of our considerable strengths and areas for further development. It states, “The commitment of all to value and nurture children as uniquely created by God leads to the outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development of pupils.” The Staff and Governors are delighted with the report, however, we are not complacent and we are already putting together an action plan to address the key areas identified by the Church School Inspection.

Yours sincerely

Jonathan Green
