FBJS raises funds to enhance the children’s school experience, in ways that the school budget could not stretch to. This has included funding activities such as the Riding Lights theatre production, playground equipment, books, class resources, and Mental Maths books.
But FBJS is not just about fundraising, it’s also a great way to get to know other parents and have a bit of fun along the way! Our meetings are usually held at the school or in the Marcia pub once a month.
2017-18 was another extremely successful year for FBJS fundraising; thank you to everyone who supported our activities over the year, we couldn't do it without you! As in previous years, the main earner was the Christmas Raffle, which with the much-appreciated match funding from Barclays raised an amazing £2,000. We also raised nearly £900 from our St Crux day and the Games night was again very popular, raising another £800. Combined with other activities this gave us a total of over £5,000 raised last year which is fabulous! The funds raised have been used to pay for a theatre performance in school, Mental Maths books, new dictionaries, a buddy bench, a contribution to carpeting some of the classrooms and £100 for each class to spend as they choose.
Our focus for this year's fundraising is new playground equipment. You can view our upcoming events below, or find us on Facebook (Friends of Bishopthorpe Junior School).
