FBJS raises funds to enhance the children’s school experience, in ways that the school budget could not stretch to. This has included funding activities such as the Riding Lights theatre production, playground equipment, books, class resources, and Mental Maths books.
But FBJS is not just about fundraising, it’s also a great way to get to know other parents and have a bit of fun along the way! Our meetings are usually held at the school or in the Marcia pub once a month.
In 2016-17 we raised almost £7,000 for school, which was an amazing achievement! This included a £1,500 grant from the Ward Council for fencing in the Reflection Area. Lots of activities contributed to this total, with some of the highlights being the Christmas raffle (£2,000 - including match funding), Family games night (£700) and St Crux (£930). The funds raised purchased a wide variety of items to benefit the children, including history timelines for the classrooms and playground equipment such as new netball posts.
We will be running the cafe and stalls at St Crux again on Thursday 19th October 2017 and will need lots of helpers, so please put the date in your diaries and watch out for more details in the Autumn term.
To find out more about plans for the coming year and how you can get involved, please come along to our AGM on Thursday 5th October at 7.30pm in school, or get in touch with one of the committee (see details below).
